Sackville offers an extensive list of programs and activities — normally only available in larger centres — because highly qualified members of the community volunteer their time. The Town's wide variety of recreational activities also reflects a commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The municipal Department of Recreation offers more than 50 high-calibre programs, including an extensive summer daycamp program for children at a reasonable cost.

Residents have access to football, soccer and softball fields, and tennis courts as well as the new, municipally-owned Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre. The Centre is within a short walking distance of the downtown. Features include a fully-accessible, regulation ice surface, a mezzanine level with event rooms, canteen and bar space, as well as changing and storage rooms, and ample parking.

Mount Allison University also offers sport facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, handball courts, a weight room, and a gymnasium.
