7:00 pm Town Council Poetry Proclamation and Reading
Join us at our Regular Council Meeting at Mayor John Higham officially proclaims April as Poetry Month in the Town of Sackville. Local poet Fran Langsthrop will also read an original poem to celebrate the official kickoff.

Do you have a love for poetry? Join us for snacks, refreshments and fantastic poetry. The Junior Jills will be on-hand to provide some great musical entertainment as well! If you would like to read your own favourite poem of 75 lines or less, please register with Deanna Cadman at 364-4958 or d.cadman@sackville.com by April 21, 2016.

Poetry Month Contest
Do you have the perfect poem hidden away in a desk somewhere? Maybe you’ve been recently motivated! Enter the Town of Sackville Poetry Writing Contest today!

Poems can be of any length and style. The winners will have their poems professionally displayed at Tidewater Books and will receive some other great prizes.
To enter the contest, download the required form and submit to m.pryde@sackville.com or by dropping your poem off to Town Hall by 4:30pm on April 21, 2016. The winners will be announced on April 27, 2016.
Roving Poets
Keep your eyes open for the Roving Poets! They will be out and about all month long spontaneously entertaining Sackville residents and visitors alike with impromptu poetry readings when and where you least expect them!
Poetry in the Schools
The Town is proud to partner with Tantramar area membership of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick and several local poets and poetry enthusiasts, to bring poetry into Salem Elementary, Port Elgin School, Dorchester Consolidated, Marshview Middle School and Tantramar High! There will be workshops, poetry readings, curriculum integration, and much more.
