The Town of Sackville is pleased to be hosting the Tour 150! Cyclists as they make their way towards Fredericton, in celebration of the completion of the TransCanada Trail in New Brunswick, celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary. This relay style event will bring trail users from all four corners of the province along the trails to a finish line celebration at the Government House in Fredericton on August 26th. Starting on August 10th participants will set out via horse, bike, kayak, and foot to travel the entire province and to relay four pieces of a map of New Brunswick along the trails. At the Government House on the 26th, the four pieces will be assembled and presented to our Lt-Gov for display at the Government House. The Cyclists passing through Sackville will begin their journey on August 12th in Port Elgin in the morning and ride all the way to Riverview before the day is over.
There will be an informal reception for the cyclists at the Bill Johnston Memorial Park during the Farmers Market at 10:15 a.m. Everyone is invited to bring best wishes, light refreshments will be served, and it is a free event. For more information contact visitor@sackville.com or 364-4967.
