SACKVILLE, NB: The Town of Sackville is working through a planning process to update our Recreation Master Plan; which expired in 2015. The plan provides the public an opportunity to let Town Council and staff know what’s important to them in recreation- what we may be missing and what we may be overdoing. We want to make sure that we’re reaching all the right people in all the right places when it comes to recreational programs, parks and opportunities.
The process will include plenty of opportunities for the public to provide feedback. Currently, we have 2 surveys available online. The resident’s survey is available on the front page of sackville.com. There is also a survey specifically for youth, ages 12-18 to fill out. It can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/SackvilleYouth. Both surveys will take about 10 minutes to fill out.
We’ve already had meetings with local recreation professionals and the local minor sports associations. We’ve completed an online survey with Mount Allison students as well. The next step is to get some face-to-face input from Sackville residents. This will involve two steps. The first step will be a public consultation workshop on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. The workshop will be very interactive and will include plenty of discussion and group work.
The second step will be pop-up stations throughout Town over the summer months asking specific questions about our recreation future. Our summer staff will be out and about to hear everything you have to say.
If you have any questions about the process, we encourage you to reach out to Matt Pryde, Manager of Recreation Programs and Events, at 364-4930 or m.pryde@sackville.com.
