Quickly becoming one of the “can’t miss” events of the Sackville Summer, the BHP Challenge is prepped and ready for a third edition! Over the past three summers over 160 racers have participated in the challenge, and walked away wet, muddy and extremely happy. The 2018 race will be held on Saturday, July 21st at Sackville’s Beech Hill Park; a beautiful nature park located off Highway 2 via Exit 500. Race sign-in will start at 8:30 am, but pre-registration and payment is required and can be made by clicking here or by dropping into Sackville Town Hall.
The main race is a newly designed 4km+ long course and consists of more than a dozen obstacles nicely spread throughout. The obstacles will be challenging, but not so much so that individuals with average fitness levels could not participate. The race is meant to be a great time for people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels!
Adult racers can participate for only $25, students for only $10! Racers will receive some goodies and be entered to win some great draw prizes. Speaking of prizes, several generous sponsors have donated draw prizes for this year’s event, with the Bicycle Specialist in Amherst, NS contributing to a $625 grand prize!
Returning this year is the BHP Mini-Challenge for children ages 5-11, again on a newly designed course. The Mini-Challenge is free for kids whose parents are participating in the main race and only $5 for all others! The mini-challenge only takes a couple of minutes and all the kids participating will receive a sweet prize featuring the BHP Challenge logo! Make sure you pre-register your children as well!
So, sign up before July 19th and come prepared on the 21st to run, climb, dodge and get dirty; and let’s see who is up for the challenge!
