By-law No. 258 – Designating Roads Accessible to Off-Road Vehicles was approved by Council on May 14, 2019. In lead-up to the implementation of this By-law, the Town co-hosted a Public Information Meeting with the New Brunswick ATV Federation on July 3, 2019.
The meeting provided an overview of the rules and regulations pertaining to ATVs on designated public streets, answered questions, and set expectations in advance of July 13, 2019, when ATVs will be permitted on Mallard Drive and a portion of Wright Street. The meeting was facilitated by the NB ATV Federation and was informative, and included representation from the RCMP, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement Branch, the Town and NB ATV Federation.
The Federation has produced a variety of educational information, including the following:
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Map of the designated route and approved streets
- Hand Signals for Riders
The necessary signage along the route will be installed over the next week, and ATVs and side-by-sides will be officially permitted on the designated streets on July 13, 2019.
We look forward to working with the Federation, RCMP and Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement Branch to monitor the rollout of the initiative.
