Sackville Names New Superintendent of Public Works
Town Completes Hiring Process for Management Position
SACKVILLE, NB – The Town of Sackville has hired Michelle Sherwood as their new Superintendent of Public Works. Sherwood will start her new role on January 4, 2021.
Sherwood brings over 24 years of experience with the Town to this position. She has worked as an Engineering Technologist with Public Works since 1996 and sat on various committees including Trees for Tomorrow, Mock Disaster Work Group for EMO, and served as Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee for several years. Michelle also has her Class II Water Distribution System Operator certification.
“I’m very pleased to have Michelle join our management team in this new capacity” said Town Engineer, Dwayne Acton. “Michelle brings with her at least 24 years of experience in municipal construction and operations, which will be a great asset to our organization.”
Sherwood was hired by a unanimous vote of Council at the December 14, 2020 Regular Meeting following a competitive search. Sherwood replaces the Town’s former Superintendent Robert McLean, who left the post in August 2020 to pursue another opportunity.
Michelle Sherwood was born and raised here in Sackville where she graduated from Tantramar Regional Highschool. She completed coursework in the Engineering School at UNB in Fredericton and received her certificate in Civil Engineering Technology from New Brunswick Community College in Moncton.
Michelle is a proud Mom to Riley, Carley and Ashley and loves watching her grandchildren play sports. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with their different activities.
