Independent Third-Party to Complete Workplace Assessments of Sackville Volunteer Fire Department and Town of Sackville
The Town has recently received complaints and expressions of concern involving certain personnel issues within the Sackville Fire Department. The Town takes such matters very seriously and a review process is now underway to understand if there is validity in these complaints, and to identify and recommend areas of improvement.
The Town has retained the services of Montana Consulting Group (Moncton) to complete a comprehensive workplace assessment of the Sackville Fire Department and its operations. The assessment will commence in early May.
To ensure that the Town provides a safe, positive, and effective workplace, we will also be undertaking an independent and thorough workplace assessment of the entire corporation. This work will also be led by Montana Consulting and will commence once the assessment of the Fire Department is complete.
In addition, the Town is committed to revisiting the By-law governing the Sackville Fire Department. The By-law review process will be accelerated as much as possible and will include meaningful consultation with Fire Department members.
Personnel issues of any kind are serious matters at any level of our municipality. The above steps are designed to ensure that recent allegations are independently and impartially examined, and that employees’ voices are heard throughout the process.
