Lorne Street Storm Water Mitigation Project Phase III β Update August 28, 2023
We’re excited to share the latest developments on the Lorne Street Storm Water Mitigation Project Phase III:
On Track and Making Progress
We’re delighted to report that Phase III of the Lorne Street Storm Water Mitigation project is progressing smoothly and on schedule.
The successful paving of Sloan Street and Crescent Street was completed last week during a window of sunny weather. Beale and Inch have moved their crew to Charles Street for the next phase of work.
Charles Street Update
Charles Street, which closed on August 14th, will remain closed for at minimum an additional two weeks while work is completed. This temporary measure ensures that construction crews can work efficiently and safely.
A Look Ahead
Later this fall, work will turn to the second retention pond behind the community gardens on Charles Street. This pond, complemented by culverts, pipes, and ditches, will channel stormwater to the Tantramar River. The Provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) announced funding for the design of a new aboiteau this spring. Talks are underway between Tantramar and DTI on an agreement to construct the aboiteau.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
