Committee of the Whole Highlights – January 22, 2024

Projects & Community Focus:

  • Upgrading Dorchester Lift Station: We’re improving our sewage system with new funding, ensuring better community services.
  • Fixing Well No. 1: The well pump is getting an essential overhaul to maintain our water supply. A temporary fix is in place until the new pump is ready.
  • Boosting Community Grants: Discussing increased funding for local groups and projects, continuing our support for community development.
  • New Bridge Safety By-Law: Implementing a rule to keep our bridges safe for pedestrians.
  • Updated Flag Display Policy: We’ve revised how and where flags are displayed in our community for a uniform approach.
  • Refining Purchasing Rules: Changes are being made to improve how the municipality handles purchasing and contracts.

Mayor’s Roundtable on Housing:

  • The mayor is leading a new initiative to identify and spotlight housing issues in our community, aiming to bring these concerns to the attention of appropriate parties.
