As no decisions are made during the Committee of the Whole, these discussions are vital for shaping future Council actions and enhancing our community in Tantramar.
Council Discussions:
Infrastructure and Maintenance:
- TVMCC Maintenance: Reviewed the proposal for servicing and cleaning the chiller at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre, addressing leaking gaskets.
- Land Reconveyance: Discussed reconveying Lot 94-5 on the Sackville Industrial Park Subdivision Plan back to the Municipality of Tantramar.
Community Events and Engagement:
- Sandpiper Festival: Discussed street closure on Cape Road, Dorchester, to accommodate festival activities and vendors.
- Fall Fair Preparations: Covered multiple aspects of the upcoming Sackville Fall Fair, including street closures, exciting fireworks displays, and parade routes.
- Shiretown Parade Route: Considered a new parade route for the Shiretown Festival due to highway closure and traffic concerns.

- By-Law No. 2024-13: Promotion of Health and Safety.
- By-Law No. 2024-14: Adoption and Interpretation of By-Laws.

Environmental and Cultural Initiatives:
- Environmental Trust Fund Grant: Tantramar received a grant of $24,250 for the creation and touring of a wetlands-themed play for youth.
- Town Crier Appointment: Discussed appointing Lidvald Haugen-Strand as the new Town Crier, following David Fullerton’s retirement.
Upcoming Events:
- Tantramar Municipal Roadshow: Join us at the next session this Thursday, May 30th, at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
