Supporting the Future of Healthcare in Tantramar: Celebrating Syed Ahmed at the 2024 Scholarship Gala

On October 15, 2024, the Municipality of Tantramar proudly took part in the 2024 Scholarship Gala hosted by the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation (NBMEF) in Saint John. This annual event celebrates the next generation of healthcare professionals and highlights the critical steps being taken to improve healthcare access across New Brunswick communities, including Tantramar.
The Municipality of Tantramar is fully committed to addressing the growing need for healthcare providers. One of the key initiatives in this effort is the Tantramar Medical Education Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to aspiring doctors and nurse practitioners. The recipients commit to practicing in Tantramar following their graduation, ensuring that our community remains supported by skilled professionals.

At this year’s gala, we were proud to award the Tantramar Medical Education Scholarship to Syed Ahmed. His dedication to serving our community is both inspiring and a testament to the effectiveness of these initiatives.

In addition to this municipal scholarship, Syed Ahmed is also the recipient of the Future Physicians of Tantramar Medical Education Scholarship, initiated by current Green Party MLA candidate Megan Mitton. Through her generous $2,500 annual contribution, this scholarship helps support medical students who are committed to returning to Tantramar to practice after completing their studies. Both scholarships are administered by the NBMEF, an organization that works to ensure healthcare providers return to serve specific communities in New Brunswick.
