Presentations & Information Items
2035 Tantramar Report – Southeast Regional Service Commission
David Campbell presented a forward-looking report outlining potential population growth, demographic shifts, and workforce needs in Tantramar through 2035.
2025 Assessment Base – Service New Brunswick
Maryem Mubareka and Eric Roy provided Council with a high-level overview of Service New Brunswick’s property assessment and taxation system.
Strategic Plan – Strategic Steps Inc.
Craig Pollett shared the final draft of Tantramar’s first-ever municipal strategic plan. This foundational document will be presented for Council approval at the next Regular Council Meeting.
Climate Change Advisory Committee (CCAC) – 2025 Budget Recommendations
Doug Bliss presented climate-focused budget recommendations and summarized key takeaways from a recent climate action workshop.
Construction Encroachment Requests
Council was briefed on two upcoming construction encroachments in Sackville:
- York Street & Ford Avenue
- Lansdowne Street
These temporary closures will support local development and prioritize public safety. Notices will be issued in advance.
Council Discussions and Directions
The following items were discussed and forwarded to the consent agenda for formal approval at the next Regular Council Meeting:
- Levee on the Lake 2025 – Council received information on changes coming to Levee on the Lake 2025 as well as asks from the festival.
- Bill Johnstone Memorial Park Playground Improvements – Proposed upgrades to improve accessibility, safety, and fun for families were discussed.
- Shiretown Festival 2025 – Council supported moving forward with planning for this year’s summer festival, including a renewed focus on local vendors, music, and tourism.
- Fall Fair 2025 – Preliminary planning discussions took place for the annual community fair, with a focus on expanding family-friendly programming and partnerships.
- Dorchester Fire Department Dress Uniforms – Council reviewed a proposal to purchase formal dress uniforms for the Dorchester Fire Department.
Economic Incentive Program – Walker Road
Council received an update on the economic incentive program application for the Walker Road development. No formal direction was requested at this time.
