Bordertown Festival May 22 – 26May 22
Joel Plaskett, James Mullinger, and Live Bait Headline Bordertown Festival
Sackville’s popular Bordertown Festival is excited to be back for a fifth edition in 2019. The Bordertown Festival is a five-day celebration of art, music, and hospitality, which offers a sample of Sackville’s many festivals, art galleries, local businesses, and restaurants. The Festival provides a platform for local non-profit arts and culture groups and venues to present a sample of what they do, all packed together in one amazing weekend. This year Bordertown will run May 22 to May 26.
The 2019 edition of the Festival features some of Sackville’s finest performers along with acts with a national profile such as Bill and Joel Plaskett and James Mullinger. The Festival also includes the world premiere of the play “Cole” presented by Live Bait Theatre, telling the story of Sackville speed skating champion Chester Cole. Other performers at the Festival include: Jane Siberry; Kenny James and Mark Green; Stacey Read and Billy King and Friends; and Kirsty Money and Jude Pelley. There will also be fine arts workshops, a playwright’s cabaret, a medieval arts display and demonstration, a reading by author Shandi Mitchell, and a Walk in the Park fundraising event for Alzheimers.
“We’re very excited about this year’s lineup”, said Festival Director Ron Kelly Spurles. “We’ve got some great acts, and excellent partners, that will really showcase the sort of top-notch entertainment that Sackville has to offer. We except it will be a busy weekend with lot of people visiting our great restaurants and boutique shops as well”.
