Chignecto Naturalists’ Club Field Trip, Cape JourimainNovember 25, 2017
The Chignecto Naturalists’ Club has scheduled its annual Cape Jourimain field trip. It will be led by Andrew Macfarlane.
Who: Everyone is welcome, whether a CNC member or not. Bring a friend!
When: Saturday 25th November. If the weather doesn’t cooperate on Saturday (i.e. rain, snow or high winds), the trip will be postponed until the next day, Sunday 26th November.
What: Participants can expect to see sea birds and land birds at Cape Jourimain and around the old ferry landing at Cape Tormentine.
Where: There are two options for meeting up to car pool:
1. In the parking lot behind the Sackville Post office at 8 am for a 8:15 departure.
2. At the Port Elgin traffic circle at 8:40 for a 8:45 departure
If you prefer to travel to the start point individually, meet at the Cape Jourimain Nature Centre parking lot at 9am.
Bring: As you can imagine, it is often cold and windy at the water’s edge during this late November trip, so dress with warm layers, including a hat and gloves, and bring a hot drink. Sturdy footwear is a good idea. Also, bring binoculars and a scope if you have one. You may wish to carry a field guide.
Bring a lunch, as the trip often extends into the afternoon.
Level of Difficulty: Walking is easy with a total of about two kilometers on level ground.
