Chignecto Naturalists’ Club – Johnson Mill’s Shorebird Field TripSeptember 8, 2019
The Chignecto Naturalists’ club will conduct a field trip on Sunday, 8 September 2019 to view the shorebirds lingering in the area before their long southern migration. The trip will be led by Kerry Lee Morris-Cormier, Nature Conservancy of Canada’s manager at the Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Interpretation Centre. Details as follows:
WHAT: Field trip to Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Interpretation Centre and beach in search of shorebirds and other species.
WHEN: Meet in the parking area behind the Sackville Post Office at 7:30 AM for carpooling and a 7:40 AM departure on Sunday, 8 September.
WHERE: Meet in the parking area behind the Sackville Post Office for carpooling and a 20 minute drive to Johnson’s Mills. If more convenient, meet at the NCC Interpretation Centre at 2724 Route 935 at 8:00 AM.
WHO: Everyone is welcome, member of the Chignecto Naturalist Club or not.
BRING: sturdy footwear, layered clothing, hat, binoculars, spotting scope if you have one, field guides or electronic devices with apps, snacks and drinking water, notebook & pencil.
DIFFICULTY: There could be about one kilometer of easy walking.
WEATHER: If this trip needs to be changed or cancelled because of the impending arrival of hurricane Dorian, notice will be given by email by Saturday afternoon
