Chignecto Naturalists’ Club – Tracks in the Snow field tripMarch 17, 2018
Like to snowshoe? Wish you knew how to identify animal tracks that you see in the snow? With the two storms predicted this week, the CNC Field Trip Committee thinks that the conditions should be perfect by Saturday to combine the two activities!
What: Tracks in the Snow field trip
Leader: Don Colpitts
When: Saturday 17 March 2018
Time: 1:00 pm at the parking lot behind the post office in Sackville. There will be very limited parking at the entrance to the farm (due to snow on the farm roads) and so carpooling from Sackville will be important. We will leave the parking lot at 1:15 sharp, and drive to Jolicure to be there by 1:45. The trip will be from 2 to 4 pm.
Bring: Shoeshoes! The trails in Bruce’s woods tend to be sheltered, and the temperature is predicted to be above zero, but it is always wise to wear layers. If you have a tracks guide, you might want to bring it too.
Where: This year we will go to Bruce Coates’ farm in Jolicure. Bruce’s property is at 1316 Route 16, Jolicure if you absolutely cannot carpool, but we cannot guarantee a parking spot!
Bruce has a warming hut on the property and we’ll stop there for a break, so bring something hot to drink in a thermos, and some nibbles if you wish.
All are welcome. Bring family or friends!
