Colloquium Musicum: A Rock Star Retires – Franz Liszt and the Genesis of the B Minor Sonata
October 2Liszt’s retirement from the concert stage spawned some of the greatest compositions in the piano repertoire in the decades that followed. This talk by Dr. Ross Osmun (Bishop’s University) will offer historical context and a brief analysis of the B Minor Sonata, followed by a complete performance of the work.
A piano master class led by Dr. Osmun, featuring performances by students of the Department of Music, will take place later the same day, 7:30pm in Brunton Auditorium. Admission is free for both events; all are welcome to attend. For more information call 506-364-2374 or email music@mta.ca.
