The New Brunswick Youth Orchestra returns to Mount Allison University’s Convocation Hall for a free ENCORE concert on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM. This year’s 85-member ensemble includes many MtA Music majors. Over half the roster come from southeastern New Brunswick. Now celebrating 10 years of free after school orchestral outreach, the NBYO boasts dozens of youth musicians who began their orchestral lives with Sistema NB programming.
The concert repertoire includes an original work–Wolastoq Fantasia, composed by long-time music educator, bassoonist, composer and conductor–Sam Arnold of Woodstock, NB. Sam’s Fantasia is a sumptuous musical and visual journey, the length and breadth of the mighty St. John River. 2018-19 NBYO competition winner–Avery Kennedy will be featured in a performance of Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in G Major K. 313. The orchestra’s classical showpiece for this year is Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47. And Maestro Antonio (Tony) Delgado has chosen the dazzling Marquez piece Conga del Fuego Nuevo to close the show.
NBYO promises three things for every concert patron:
You will be moved!
You will be amazed!
You will be NB Proud!
Come and enjoy the NBYO experience–ENCORE!
