After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic., Mount Allison’s Garnet & Gold Musical Theatre Society returns with an upbeat and energetic production of “High School Musical On Stage”. The show is rated G and suitable for all ages.

Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on stage! Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.

It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

About Garnet & Gold

The Garnet and Gold Musical Theatre Society is the largest and oldest student society at Mount Allison University. G&G first made its Mount Allison debut in 1932, as an offshoot of the Mt A Choral Society within the department of music. The group established itself as a society under the students’ union in the 1960’s, and since their 1987 production (thirty-three years ago) the Mount Allison Campus and community of Sackville have not been without an annual Garnet and Gold production, except for 2021-2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. it is no exaggeration to say that G&G has been a part of thousands of students’ MtA experience over its nearly eight decades of presence on our campus.
