Handmade Study Break: Fabric Flowers with Tara K. WellsMarch 15, 2016
This Handmade Study Break, join artist Tara K. Wells for a workshop on making hand-stitched flowers. With just a needle and thread, transform colourful printed fabric into small dimensional flowers that could be used for any number of things from magnets to brooches, to an embellishment on a bag.
Tara is an award-winning animator and freelance designer who lives and works in Sackville. A maker of many things, Tara is an accomplished quilter, a skill she learned from her mother. Tara often uses found or recycled materials in her art and in this workshop, we will use scraps and offcuts from her fantastic fabric stash. Her multidisciplinary practice, which spans sculpture, installation, quilting and animation, is rooted in a strong sense of play. All materials for the workshop will be provided.
Handmade Study Breaks are free, informal, artist-led workshops for everyone. Organized by the Owens Art Gallery at Mount Allison University.
