As part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Intercolonial Railway coming to Sackville in 1869, Live Bait Theatre is presenting a special community theatre production of “The Intercolonial Railway: Ties That Bind”, written by Susan Amos and directed by Dale Fawthrop. The play tells the story of the development of the railway from Confederation onward, and includes depictions of many colourful characters from the time period including stage coach driver and railway worker Miles Hoar, and Sir Sanford Fleming, Chief Engineer of the Intercolonial Railway. It also includes stories from many local residents, and features actors Susan Amos, Pat Belliveau, Marsha Amanova, Bob Nelson, Penny Mott, Theo Michaelis-Law and Jenna Wilson, with guest appearances by Gene Goodrich, Alice Folkins and David Stewart.

“We’re very excited about this production”, said Live Bait President Cynthia Spurles. “We’re pleased to have a talented cast of local amateur actors enacting this story, and presenting something that is an important part of Sackville and area’s history. It’s one of several projects celebrating this important anniversary, and there are others, including a concert by Ray Leger and Janet Crawford, listed on our website.

The Friday performance will be at 7:30 pm, and Saturdays’ performances will be at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.
