MAKER MAKER: Fabric Appliqué Patches with Izzy FrancoliniNovember 21, 2018
Join us for our final MAKER MAKER workshop of the fall and learn to make one-of-a-kind fabric appliqué patches with Sackville artist Izzy Francolini.
At this workshop, participants will design and stitch together their own patches using a variety of fabrics and a rainbow of threads. Attach your small creation to a shoulder bag or backpack or gift it to a friend. Izzy will share helpful tips and ideas for special embellishments.
Izzy Francolini is an interdisciplinary artist and creature of habit, whose practice includes textiles, painting and drawing. Their work often explores everyday intimacies, identity politics, and acts of commemoration. Izzy’s life and work is informed by relationships with domestic animals including their own cat and dog. Izzy spends their days dying skeins of fine wool for Sackville’s own Lichen and Lace.
MAKER MAKER is a monthly program of seriously small after-hours art workshops. Led by diverse Maker Mentors, each workshop introduces a pocket-sized art project that can be made in two hours or less. Designed for accomplished and aspiring makers alike, MAKER MAKER is for anyone interested in making small things by hand with friends and fellow makers. This informal workshop series explores how working small can be practical, portable and playful, economical, sharable and even wearable.
MAKER MAKER is free and all materials are provided, no registration required.
