MAKER MAKER Make-Along: DIY Stickers with Izzy FrancoliniSeptember 30
Wednesday 30 September 2020
7:00-8:00 pm (ADT)
While the Owens is temporarily closed to the public, MAKER MAKER is moving to cyberspace with a new format that we are calling MAKER MAKER Make-Along. Join Sackville artist Izzy Francolini and three special guests for a DIY sticker-making extravaganza.
Izzy will be leading the workshop live from their Sackville studio. Watch as Izzy transforms adhesive sign vinyl into one-of-a-kind stickers and learn tips and tricks for making your own stickers at home.
Izzy is an interdisciplinary artist whose work often explores identity politics and acts of commemoration. Their practice includes textiles, painting and drawing. A graduate of the Fine Arts program at Mount Allison University and former yarn dyer, Izzy makes intricate vinyl stickers under the moniker Mainlyghosty.
Register for the free Zoom webinar at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_nmvtxpVGRtaYTnRzjWqn2w. CART transcription will be available. You can also catch the workshop on Facebook Live.
MAKER MAKER Make-Along kits will be available for curb-side pick-up from the Owens Art Gallery on a first-come-first-served basis on weekdays between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm beginning September 18. Please ring the doorbell at the entrance closest to the turning circle next to the Chapel and stand six feet back from the door. Community masks are required for kit pick-up. MAKER MAKER Make-Along kits are free.
If you are joining us from further afield, you can search online for “adhesive vinyl” to find local and online suppliers near you. Vinyl is often available in multi-colour packs that are perfect for sticker making.
In addition to vinyl, you will also need a good pair of scissors and a pencil for sketching out your designs.
