MAKER MAKER: Mini Paper Bunting with Laura Watson
September 28, 2016New this fall, the Owens presents MAKER MAKER, a monthly program of seriously small after-hours art workshops. Each workshop will be led by diverse Maker Mentors who will introduce a pocket-sized art project that can be made in two hours or less.
MAKER MAKER kicks off with a workshop on mini paper bunting led by recent Mount Allison Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate, Laura Watson. Laura is a drawer, printmaker, painter, embroiderer and writer who currently lives in Sackville, NB. Dedicated to the handmade, and a fan of snail-mail, Laura has developed an international mail art exchange sending her work out around the world for free. In addition to her solo practice, Laura is also one third of the hard-working art collective, The Society of Anonymous Drawers.
At this workshop, participants will thread together small paper flags to make their own string of bunting to decorate a window, wall or shelf.
Designed for accomplished and aspiring makers alike, MAKER MAKER is for anyone interested in making small things by hand with friends and fellow makers. This informal workshop series explores how working small can be practical, portable and playful, economical, sharable and even wearable.
MAKER MAKER is free and all materials are provided, no registration required.
