Mount Allison Orchestra presents Schubert “Unfinished Symphony”
The Mount Allison University Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Gregory Burton, will perform some of the orchestral repertoire’s best-known pieces on their final programme of the season, Thursday, April 5, 8:00 pm in Convocation Hall.
Along with Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 – commonly known as the “Unfinished Symphony” – the programme includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Richard Strauss’ Serenade, Op. 7, and a special performance of Gerald Finzi’s Eclogue for piano and strings with Mount Allison pianist Dr. Stephen Runge as soloist. The concert will also feature the world première of Mount Allison music student Zhiqi Jin’s composition, Octet, performed by the musicians of the orchestra.
The Mount Allison University Chamber Orchestra features top instrumental students from the Department of Music as well as excellent musicians from the greater Sackville community. The concert is open to all and free of charge.
