Musical Tales: Take Two!January 27, 2019
Undeterred by winter weather, the Sackville Music Festival will be hosting its annual fundraising recital at a new date and time: Sunday, January 27 at 5pm in Brunton Auditorium. “A Community of Performers” will once more showcase some of Sackville’s exceptional musical talents in “Musical Tales: Take Two!” – it’s an event you will not want to miss! Admission is by donation with proceeds going to support the Sackville Music Festival.
This year our concert brings stories alive with music and readings from Hansel and Gretel, Matilda, The Gruffalo, and other favourites — including a full performance of Peter and the Wolf. We are thrilled to welcome a host of talented performers who will delight the audience: Erin Bardua, Jennie Del Motte, Jim Tranquilla, James Kalyn, Joël Cormier, Lucia Rodriguez, Sandy Burnett, Charlotte Staples, Charles Torrance, Margaret Torrance, Charles Lanctot, Evelyn Chapman, Jeff Egger, Gabrielle Brochu, Emily Steers, Alexandra Duchemin, Alex Fancy, and The Beausejour Wind Quintet under the direction of James Mark.
The Sackville Music Festival is an annual week-long event which provides an opportunity for music students and community members, both young and old, to perform music and recite in a supportive public forum. The students receive detailed oral and written feedback about their performances from professional adjudicators, and develop their love of music through listening to their fellow performers and the insightful, helpful comments offered by the adjudicators.
The 2019 Sackville Music Festival will be held on April 22 to 28 in the Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory of Music at Mount Allison University. The deadline for registration for the festival is February 8. The syllabus and entry forms, as well as information about this year’s adjudicators will be made available at www.sackvillemusicfestival.com.
