Poet Laureate Shoshanna Wingate
Shoshanna Wingate was born in New York City, raised between New York and South Carolina, and has lived in many far-flung places from San Francisco to Berlin to Vermont. She has made her home in Atlantic Canada since 2004. She lives in Sackville, New Brunswick with her family.
While living in St. John’s, Newfoundland, she was a founding editor of Riddle Fence, an arts & culture journal. Her poetry and fiction have been published in The New Quarterly, The Fiddlehead, Arc Poetry Magazine, Hunger Mountain Review online, and Room Magazine. She has recieved numerous grants from local arts councils and the Marian Hebb Research Grant from Access Copyright. Her poetry chapbook, Homing Instinct, was published by Frog Hollow Press and her full-length poetry collection, Radio Weather, was published by Vehicule Press in 2014. Radio Weather was named a 2014 most anticipated book by 49th Shelf and All Lit Up named her an emerging poet to watch. She is currently working on a memoir.
In 2019, she was named Poet Laureate of the Town of Sackville by Sackville Town Council.
