Scam Alert: Fake Text Messages About By-Law Infractions

The Municipality of Tantramar is warning residents about a scam circulating in our community. Residents have reported receiving text messages claiming they have an outstanding by-law or parking violation with a link to make payment.

Important: These messages are not from the Municipality of Tantramar.

We will never contact you by text message or social media to request payment for a fine.

What to do if you receive a suspicious message:

Do not click any links.
Do not provide personal or payment information.
Report the message to your cellphone provider.
Delete the message.

We encourage all residents to remain cautious and to share this information with friends and family so that no one falls victim to this scam.
