Consent Agenda
Council approved the following requests:
Banner Policies
Council passed two new policies to support the consistent management and storage of banners within the community:
- TVMCC Banner Policy for banners displayed at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre.
- Pole Banner Policy to guide future installations on municipal infrastructure.
Sackville Sports Wall of Fame Board of Directors – Council approved the term extension for Steve Ridlington and appoint Curtis Wells as the member representing the Sackville Legion, with both terms ending June 30, 2028.

Sandpiper Festival 2025 – Preparations are underway for another successful Sandpiper Festival in Dorchester this summer. Council approved street closures to support this important community event.
Ferret Scout Car Refurbishment – The historic Ferret Scout Car in Memorial Park will receive a full refurbishment, reaffirming our commitment to honouring veterans and preserving local heritage.
2025 Sackville Triathlon – The popular Sackville Triathlon will return on August 16, 2025. Council approved required street closures and in-kind support to ensure the event’s success. Registration is currently open.
2025 Pride Parade – Council approved street closures for the 2025 Pride Parade on September 24, in partnership with Mount Allison Students’ Union.
NB Power Easement – Council approved an easement agreement with NB Power for an upgraded transmission line on Tantramar properties.
Reports from Administration
Sackville Water Treatment Plant – Council approved the replacement of a key low-lift pump at the Sackville Water Treatment Plant to ensure reliable water service.
Streetlights in Tantramar – 27 new streetlights will be installed across rural areas of Tantramar following a comprehensive warrant analysis. This project addresses public safety and accessibility in key locations.
Corporate Plan Proposal – A proposal for a new Corporate Plan was presented to Council. Further discussion is expected at an upcoming meeting.
RV Dump Station Inquiry – Staff will gather information on an RV dump station in Tantramar, with findings presented during the 2026 budget process.
Mayor & Councillor Statements & Inquiries
- Councillor Hicks raised a question about municipal support for storm sewer replacement on Lansdowne Street and provided feedback on current flowerpot contacts.
- Councillor Debbie Wiggins-Colwell requested updates on ongoing items in Dorchester.
- Deputy Mayor Matt Estabrooks and several Councillors expressed appreciation to staff for Canada Day celebrations.
- Mayor Black gave an update on fire protection in Rockport while the Peck’s Cove Bridge remains under weight restrictions.
Notice of Motion
Mayor Andrew Black served two Notices of Motion:
- Regarding His Majesty’s Canadian Ship.
- In response to the recent presentation from the Tantramar ATV Club.
