Welcome from the Mayor
Hello, and welcome to Tantramar! On January 1st, 2023, the Town of Sackville, Village of Dorchester, and Sackville, Dorchester, and Pointe de Bute Local Service Districts were amalgamated to create the new entity of Tantramar.
As the first Mayor of Tantramar, I’d like to welcome residents and visitors to enjoy our beautiful region. We respectfully acknowledge that Tantramar is located on the traditional, unceded lands and waters of the Mi’kmaq.
There will be challenges ahead over the next year as we transition to the new entity. However, we have a strong new Council and experienced staff to help us get there. Covid-19 continues to impact our community, but we’ve learned how to keep staff and residents safe while continuing to offer a high level of programming and services to the community.
I look forward to working with community partners across the region on issues impacting Tantramar, such as housing, healthcare and climate change.
